“Povestea lui Will (Ryan Reynolds) incepe in anul 1992, cand era un tanar ucenic intr-ale politicii care se muta din Wisconsin in New York pentru a se implica in campania prezidentiala. Pentru Maya, Will reinvie un trecut vazut de un tanar idealist care invata dedesubturile politicii si este implicat in trei relatii sentimentale.

Will ii ofera fiicei sale o versiune romantata a propriului trecut si schimba numele celor trei femei, lasandu-si fiica sa ghiceasca cu cine s-a casatorit in final. Cine este mama ei? Colega de facultate Emily (Banks), prietena si confidenta sa, apolitica April (Fischer), sau ambitioasa, independenta ziarista Summer (Weisz)?

Maya, punand una langa alta,piesele acestui puzzle amoros, incepe sa inteleaga ca dragostea nu este chiar o bagatela, iar Will, ajutat de propria fiica, realizeaza ca niciodata nu e prea tarziu sa te intorci in si spre propria existenta sperand intr-un alt final.
